But first, you need to know what to look for in the perfect pair.
How to choose the best high-waisted leggings
?? Do a squat test. “When it comes to looking for high-waisted leggings, it’s best to try them on and make sure your underwear doesn’t show by doing a deep squat,” says Roazena Miller, a certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor in New York City. “Doing this will also help you get a feel for the waistband—if it’s too snug, it will press into your belly and cause discomfort,” she explains.
?? Consider the material. Depending on the season and location of your workout, you’ll want to look for specific fabrics. “I do believe cotton is best, especially in hot and humid temperatures. Polyester and nylon may trap heat a lot more, causing your body temperature to rise even faster,” says Miller. Experts also recommend reaching for leggings that are designed with moisture-wicking fabric that limits sweat and absorbs odor.
?? Try out different lengths. Choosing a length will mostly be based on your preference. There are three main styles of leggings, full-length, ?, and capri-length. Capri styles generally provide more breathability than the longer styles but offer more coverage than shorts.
?? Look for leggings that won’t fall down. This is a common problem for many and that’s because high-waisted leggings are made to sit above the navel. But, you can fold the top of the waistband down, which will double up on the elastic around your hips and help keep everything super snug. If that still doesn’t work, you may need to go down a size.
